Writer: Damien Belliveau, Tim Grant, Ryan Johnston, Steven Klein, Clay Tweel
Producer: Ryan Johnston, p.g.a. & Steven Klein, p.g.a.
Cast: Darcell Trotter, Darrell Trotter, Wayne Brown, Barbara Robinson

OUT OF OMAHA is an intimate portrait of twin brothers Darcell and Darrell Trotter, two young black men coming of age in North Omaha. Director Clay Tweel met the Trotters when they were seventeen and filmed them over a period of eight years. By intimately portraying the twins’ hopes and struggles – and the love and help they give and get along the way – the film examines just how much it can take to overcome disadvantages rooted in historic injustice. Connecting us deeply to its heroes, OUT OF OMAHA takes concepts like inequality, racial disparity, and economic opportunity out of the abstract, showing what these large-scale phenomena look like when they are experienced by individual human beings.

Diane
(Drama)
USA - 95 minutes
100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Writer/Director: Kent Jones
Producer: Luca Borghese, Ben Howe, Caroline Kaplan, Oren Moverman
Cast: Mary Kay Place, Jake Lacy, Andrea Martin, Estelle Parsons, Deirdre O'Connell, Joyce Van Patten, Phyllis Somerville, Glynnis O'Connor, Paul McIsaac

For Diane (Mary Kay Place), everyone else comes first. Generous but with little patience for self-pity, she spends her days checking in on sick friends, volunteering at her local soup kitchen, and trying valiantly to save her troubled, drug-addicted adult son (Jake Lacy) from himself. But beneath her relentless routine of self-sacrifice, Diane is fighting a desperate internal battle, haunted by a past she can’t forget and which threatens to tear her increasingly chaotic world apart. Built around an extraordinary, fearless performance from Mary Kay Place, the narrative debut from Kent Jones is a profound, beautifully human portrait of a woman rifling through the wreckage of her life in search of redemption.

Evelyn
UK - 100 minutes
Writer/Director:Orlando von Einsiedel

Following his Oscar winning The White Helmets, Orlando von Einsiedel turns his camera on his own family as they attempt to cope with a devastating loss. When his brother, newly diagnosed as schizophrenic and suffering from intense depression, took his own life at 22, Orlando and his other two siblings buried the trauma, rarely talking about it. Over a decade later, the remaining family set out on a hiking tour, visiting landscapes Evelyn liked to walk, to reflect on his life and death. The result is an intensely personal and moving take on the emotional impact of suicide within a family and a powerful account of the benefits of creating safe spaces for emotional communication. Shot in a subjective style and against the stunning backdrop of the British countryside, Evelyn is an emotionally raw film that documents the difficult, yet rewarding, attempt to navigate the rocky highlands of collective trauma.

But, just a few years earlier, she was a 15 year-old student in Wichita, Kansas for whom fame and fortune were only dreams. When the opportunity arises for her to go to New York to study with a leading dance troupe, her mother insists there be a chaperone. Norma Carlisle (Elizabeth McGovern), a local society matron who never broke a rule in her life, impulsively volunteers to accompany Lousie (Haley Lu Richardson). It’s a story full of surprises—about who these women really are, and who they eventually become.

Writer/Director/Producer: Jacqueline Olive
Cast: William J. Barber II

ALWAYS IN SEASON explores the lingering impact of more than a century of lynching African Americans and connects this form of historic racial terrorism to racial violence today. The film centers on the case of Lennon Lacy, an African American teen who was found hanging from a swing set in Bladenboro, North Carolina, on August 29, 2014. Despite inconsistencies in the case, local officials quickly ruled Lennon’s death a suicide, but his mother, Claudia, believes Lennon was lynched. Claudia moves from paralyzing grief to leading the fight for justice for her son.

Every day is a challenge as Colbie (8) and Lleyton (5) navigate their way through the world in a way we can't fully understand. Their brain scans are perfectly normal, but they suffer from a debilitating disorder that has prevented them from ever speaking a word or taking an unassisted step. They lack fine motor skills and struggle with structural issues as they grow older and bigger. And sadly, there is no way for them to reciprocate the unconditional love bestowed upon them by their family.

"Love Letters From the Resistance" profiles eight women working in education and sustainable agriculture on Nebraska and Iowa farms and community gardens.

In a world of fast food and environmental crisis, these are voices of women who are part of a national trend to raise clean, healthy, sustainably grown food and with it, stronger communities. It is a radically loving act that reaches beyond the farm and garden to help create thriving, invested communities for the next generation.

In God I Trust is a film about the intense and unpredictable realities of race and religion in America. Inspired by true events, the movie follows three characters and three storylines that all come together during a random encounter in a small Northern Idaho town. The film wastes no time testing the lines between anger, redemption, and revenge in today’s politically divided and socially tribal environment. What really makes these true-to-life characters tick is highlighted by suspense that keeps the audience guessing from the opening credits.
